YOUR INFORMATION
Privacy notice
Updated 13 October 2026
This notice covers the public John Bland CAD website and enquiries, training, consultancy, support and newsletter activities described below. Software account and purchasing information will be published at launch.
Who is responsible
John Bland, trading as JB CAD Training and John Bland CAD, is the controller for these activities. Contact john@johnblandcad.com or write to 20 Chalford Grange, Fareham, Hampshire, PO15 5QN, United Kingdom. If we process personal information on your instructions within a consultancy project, we will agree any necessary processor arrangements separately.
Information and reasons for using it
- Enquiries and bookings: names, business and contact details, correspondence, training needs, booking records and relevant project information you provide. We use them to reply, prepare quotations and arrange and deliver agreed services. The basis is steps towards or performance of a contract where you are the client; for business contacts, our legitimate interest in responding to and administering professional enquiries and services.
- Accounts and disputes: invoices, payment confirmations and relevant correspondence for accounting, tax obligations and resolving complaints or legal claims. We rely on applicable legal obligations and our legitimate interest in maintaining accurate records and protecting legal rights. Do not send payment-card details by email.
- Training recordings: with every participant’s consent, Teams sessions may include their voice, image, screen content and a transcript. We use these to provide a record of the training for the agreed participants, not public marketing. Declining recording does not prevent unrecorded tuition. You can withdraw consent for future recording and ask about existing recordings; withdrawal does not undo lawful prior use.
- Support: contact details, the question and relevant diagnostics you choose to provide, to investigate and respond. This is service administration or our legitimate interest in helping users and improving reliability. Send only what is needed; remove confidential customer details, credentials and sensitive information.
- Newsletter: the email address and any optional information you supply on the separate MailerLite form, together with consent and confirmation records. We rely on your consent to send CAD, tools and tuition news. Enquiring about tuition does not subscribe you. Confirm your email after signing up and unsubscribe through any newsletter or contact John.
- Website delivery and security: hosting logs can include IP addresses, requested pages, timestamps, browser information and errors. We use these for our legitimate interest in delivering and protecting the website, investigating faults and abuse. The public brochure does not add advertising or analytics tracking.
- Testimonials and photographs: we publish the agreed wording, name, business and approved images with permission. Contact John about changing or withdrawing your permission for future publication.
Service providers and AI assistance
Krystal hosts this website. Microsoft 365 provides email and Teams. MailerLite provides the separate newsletter form and mailing service. Providers receive information needed for their functions; we may also disclose relevant records to professional advisers or authorities when necessary or legally required. We do not sell your contact details or automatically add them to marketing lists.
The support mailbox may be reviewed with an AI assistant to help identify questions and prepare replies for John’s approval. This can involve the relevant support message being processed by OpenAI or another specifically disclosed assistant provider. Replies are reviewed by John; the assistant does not make solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. If you prefer support without AI assistance, contact john@johnblandcad.com directly and state this preference. Please do not send confidential project files or special-category personal data without discussing handling first.
International processing
Providers may process information outside the UK, depending on the service and its configuration. Where a restricted transfer is made, appropriate arrangements are required, such as applicable adequacy regulations or approved contractual safeguards. Contact John for details of the arrangements relevant to your information and how to obtain a copy.
How long information is kept
We keep information only as long as needed for its purpose. The criteria include whether an enquiry remains active, delivery of the booking and follow-up support, legal accounting requirements, applicable claim periods and whether a dispute requires preservation. Training recordings are kept for the agreed learning-access period; the access and retention arrangements will be confirmed with your booking. Newsletter information is kept while subscribed; after unsubscribe, a minimal suppression or consent record may be retained to respect your choice and demonstrate compliance. Hosting logs are subject to the hosting service’s operational and security retention arrangements. Ask John about the period applying to a particular record.
Your choices and rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your personal information, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent. These rights have legal conditions and exceptions. Contact John using the details above; we may need proportionate information to verify identity. Please do not send identity documents unless requested through an agreed secure method. Mandatory privacy rights in your jurisdiction are not removed by this notice.
You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or your competent local regulator. You do not have to contact us first, although we welcome the opportunity to resolve concerns.
Optional YouTube videos
Workflow videos on the tuition and consultancy pages use click-to-load YouTube players. Until you choose to load one, these features do not contact YouTube. Loading connects your browser to Google/YouTube and shares technical information such as your IP address and browser details; playback may use cookies or device storage. You can use the rest of the site without loading it, and an unload control removes the player. See the cookie notice for details and browser choices.
External services and changes
Email links open your own mail app. The newsletter link opens a separate MailerLite website, with its own cookies and privacy information. See the cookie notice and MailerLite privacy policy. This notice will be updated when relevant practices change; material new uses will be explained and any required consent obtained before they start.
